Michael Albert
Sergeant First Class

Michael "Mike" Albert went to be with our Lord and his beloved father and mother, Michael and Miriam Albert, on February 26, 2005. He was also preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Norman, Elias, Jennie, Helen, Naomi, and Millie; but has six brothers and sisters still living, Peggy, Esther, Martha, Lydia, Larry, and John. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eileen Albert; four children, Michaleen "Mike" Richardson, of Olympia, Washington, Rob Albert, of Carlsbad, California, Steve Albert, of Banks, Oregon, and Greg Albert, of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mike was born in Canton, Ohio on July 26, 1915. He left Canton to proudly serve his country for 30 years in the United States Army. He was a survivor of both Pearl Harbor and the D-Day Invasion, where he received a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Mike spent most of his career after World War II at Fort Lewis, Washington, with brief tours of duty in Germany and Korea.

After retiring from the military, Mike worked for the Civil Service Administration for 20 years at McChord Air Force Base. Upon retiring from the Civil Service, Mike spent 16 years volunteering in the Veterans Administration Hospital at American Lake and Madigan Hospital at Fort Lewis. He was also an active member of the American Legion Post 94, the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, and the Purple Heart Association.

Mike was a proud, loving, and caring man and father. He touched many hearts and lives, and was loved by many because of his willingness to serve.

His family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all of Mike's friends, who were an important part of his life throughout the years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent directly to the American Legion Post 94, P.O. Box 5639, Lacey, Washington, 98509-5639. Make donations payable to the American Legion Post 94, and mark "For Mike Albert".
