Visitation Information: Obituary: George C. Angel, a well known and long time resident of Olympia, completed his life's journey of 94 years on August 20, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche, after 69 years of marriage. They traveled extensively, both in the United States, Europe and Greece.George's passion was boating. As a master carpenter, and aside from building three homes for his family, a major portion of his working career was spent in custom marine manufacturing. He built and maintained many well known wooden sailboats and yachts in and around the Puget Sound region. He cruised extensively, particpated in sail boat races and sailed to Hawaii. He belonged to the Seattle Yacht Club and was one of the founding members of the San Diego chapter of the Power Squadron. When boat construction entered the fiberglass era, George's woodworking skills were utilized at commercial window, door and furniture fabricating companies.George was a Life Time Member of the Olympia Elks Lodge, Post 186.George is survived by a sister, Helen Thompson of Issaquah; daughter and Son-in-law, Darlene and Bob Hellman of Whidby Island; and a grandson, Mark Hellman of Lake Stevens.At George's request there will be no services.
