Obituary:

Calvin I Cutlip Sr., of Olympia passed away on December 17, 2009. Calvin was born on July 1, 1932 in PeEll, Washington to William F. Cutlip and Lillian W. Cutlip, who preceded him on his journey, as well as his two brothers Jerry K. Cutlip and William F. Cutlip; his son Calvin I Cutlip Jr.; and his past Wife Myra. Our Dad Cal was always a go getter, never slowing down and never saying no to a friend who needed him.

Dad loved hunting, fishing, traveling, gardening, bargain hunting at garage sales, tinkering, and his little dog Maddie; along with many other things. Dad always had a story to tell, whether it be about travel, life, friends or family, he could always grab the spotlight. He had a way about him that everyone would just stop to listen. Dad always took pride in all that he did. He always did for others without ever expecting anything in return. He was a Volunteer Sheriff for Lewis County, he was involved with the Wrinkles of Washington (WOW), entertainment explosion, and was proud to be a retired Olympia Firefighter…. Whenever we would hear the sirens go by he would always say "there goes my boys" - I guess some little boys just never grow up. Dad always thought he could take life by the horns and beat anything... In his recent travels he went to Hawaii, jumped on the zip line, went parasailing. and then went to Disneyland with his family and yes... he jumped on a roller coaster that turned him upside down... there was nothing he would let stand in the way of him keeping up with his family and friends. “I CAN`T” was not part of his vocabulary. Dad was a man of many talents, give him a safety pin, rubber band, piece of duct tape and he cold fix just about anything. Dad always loved a challenge and he was definately our modern day McGuiver. He was so full of life and had an endless amount of unconditional love for all he knew.

Cal left behind two sisters, Colleen Pease of Bremerton and his baby sister Maryanna Thompson of Olympia; along with his three Children Y. Marie Hendershot, her husband Terry and their Two kids Taylor and Hailey; daughter Patricia (PJ) Edinger , her husband Jeff along with their three kids Jeramy Jernigan, his wife Mia and their daughter Sage; Heather Miller and her husband Nick, and Kelsey Edinger; and his son William Cutlip and wife Chika and their two kids Mia and Wilson; his loving companion Sharon Williams as well as many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and his Ex- wife Yvonne Jones. He will forever be in our hearts. For those who knew him and loved him and for those who he loved and left behind, he was, and will always be, “Our Hero...”

In Remembrance of our beloved, Dad, Grandpa, Friend, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Loved One, we would like to invite you all to a Celebration of Life (details above).

In lieu of flowers please make donations to The Olympia Firefighter Civic Foundation or The Thurston County Medic One. Thank you
