Meredith “Doug” Bloedel, 70, died Tuesday February 2, 2010, at Roo-lan Healthcare Center, Lacey, Wa. after a long illness. Meredith “Doug” Bloedel was born in Jamestown, ND. July 29, 1939, the son of Charles and Vivian Bloedel. On November 27, 1963 he married Carol Nixdorf at Solem Lutheran Church, Hawley, Mn. They moved to Shelton, Wa. in November, 1968. They moved to Lacey, Wa. in June, 1971. In May 2004, they sold their home and moved to Mountain Green Mobile Park. Doug enjoyed living here and made a lot of great friends. He was Vice President of the Homeowners Association for 2 years. Doug was preceded in death by his father in 1986 and son Charles in 1964. Doug is survived by his wife Carol, a daughter Becky Bogue (Blaine) Olympia, Wa., 2 sons Mark Bloedel, Camano Island, Wa., Stephen Bloedel (Kacee), Lynnwood, Wa. 7 Grandchildren – Marcus & Kylie (Mark), Bonnie, Blaine, Brittany (Becky), Ethan and Allison (Stephen). Great Grandchild – Bradley 2 weeks old (Bonnie). Brothers Robert (Dorothy) and Michael (Diane) Bloedel. Doug was a printer by trade most of his working life. He worked for the Washington State Printer and Weyerhauser printing until they sold out. He then went to school to get his license to drive truck from coast to coast. He retired in 2001 and enjoyed life. In his early years he enjoyed boating with a lot of friends. He was Commodore of the Capital Cruising Club, and belonged to South Sound Cruising Club and Olympia Yacht Club for many years. He spent many summer vacations in the San Juan Islands. A lot of time was spent after retirement traveling to Arizona, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota and Wisconsin. His final dream was to go back to Arizona but was unable to. The family of Meredith “Doug” Bloedel greatfully acknowledges your attendance at the celebration of life and many kind expressions of sympathy during their time of loss.
