Visitation Information: Obituary: Frederick E. "Ted" Bullock was born in Corning, Iowa, on 9 August 1920. After graduation from Corning High School in 1937 Ted moved to California and was attending San Diego State College in December 1941 when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. Soon after that Ted enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He applied for pilot training and graduated from flight school as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Corps Reserve in September 1942. His first assignment after graduation was flying P-39 fighter aircraft at Paine Field, Everett, Washington. He was eventually sent overseas to the Mediterranean Theater of Operations where he flew 70 combat missions in Spitfires and P-51 Mustangs He was credited with three enemy aircraft kills and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and six Air Medals. After the war Ted received a commission in the Regular Air Force and continued to serve as a fighter pilot in F-80, F-84, F-86, and F-100 jet aircraft during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam, finally retiring in 1973 with the rank of Colonel and with a total of thirty-one years of military duty .Since retirement Ted kept busy with various community activities to include membership in the South Puget Sound Rotary Club, the Tumwater Rotary Club, the Military Officers Association of America, the Air Force Association, the Olympia Elks, and the Olympic Flight Museum, in which he was the first honorary lifetime member.He is survived by his son, Brent Bullock; his daughter, Lynne Ann Hicks; four grand children and one great grand child: a brother, Harold Bullock; and his present wife, Evelyn Sutter Bullock.
