Jerry was born April 11, 1923 and raised in Kennett, Missouri. He was the son of Albert Moore and Fronie Miles. He moved to the Pacific Northwest in the early 1940s. In 1943, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and was stationed in various locations in Washington State where he met and then married Josephine Medak on December 7, 1944 in Raymond, Washington. After also being stationed in Alaska, he was honorably discharged in May 1946, and began raising an eventual family of seven children in Raymond. He was employed as a diesel mechanic for Weyerhaeuser Co. until 1965 when he and his family moved to Hoquiam, Washington, where he was employed and retired from the Grays Harbor PUD in 1984 as a mechanic and power plant manager. Following retirement, his avid hobbies included golf, home improvement, gardening, hiking, hunting, fishing and snow-birding in Superior and then Queen Valley, Arizona. Jerry was a soft-spoken and caring man and loved his children dearly. Jerry was preceded in death by his former wife, Josephine; son, Kenneth; two grandchildren; and longtime friend, Ruth Hansen.
