Obituary: 


Richard (Rick) D. Alverson, 44, a 14 year resident of Tumwater, died October 30, 2006 at his home due to smoke inhalation. He was born August 17, 1962 to Raymond and Gloria (Lobe) Alverson in Olympia. Rick graduated from North Thurston High School in 1981 and attended 2 years of college in Pocatello, Idaho.

On November 17, 1990, in Olympia, he married Sheri McKinney. He was a Lieutenant for the South Bay Fire Department before becoming a truck driver for Lakeside Hauling and Acme Fuel Company for about 12 years. Rick loved camping, baking pies, and making soups. He loved to cook and feed everybody. He was a mentor for his nieces and nephews and all the children and in his neighborhood.

Rick is survived by his wife, Sheri; two brothers, Dave and Jeff Alverson; his sister, Tammi Dayley; his father, Ray Alverson and his wife, Laura; stepsister, Deena (Don) Diboll, of California; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Elaine Alverson, grandmother, Laura Alverson, and grandmother, Tina Lobe.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2006 at the Masonic Center, 521 North St. SE, Tumwater.
