Obituary: 


Barbara Louise Allen of Gig Harbor passed away December 13th from respiratory failure while in Eastside Hospital in Redmond, WA. She was currently a resident of Gig Harbor, WA and Indio, CA.

Barbara was a career educator and public school administrator in the Centralia, Oakville and Gig Harbor School Districts.

Upon her retirement she became an avid and prizewinning quilter and belonged to several quilting groups. She enjoyed motorhome travel, boating, card playing, Red Hatting, and all the people she came in contact with. Barbara will be remembered always for her quick wit and undying sense of humor.

She is survived by her husband Roger Calhoun of Gig Harbor; brothers Scott Carnahan of McMinnville, OR and David Carnahan of Shelton, WA ; sister, Mary LaSalata of Rochester, WA; aunts Ruth Gruse of Rochester, WA, Nellie Wolever of North Bend, WA, Mary Lea of Arlington, VA and Frances Swanson of Asheville, NC; and uncle, John Stringer of Idaho Falls, ID. Also surviving are sons, Bruce Allen of Woodbridge, VA, Brian Allen of Boardman, OR; daughters, Susan Allen of Oak Park, CA, Nora Elsasser of Vancouver, WA; step-daughters, Kathy Shoultz of Spokane, WA, Marni Pilcher of Spokane, WA and Kristi Calhoun of Clatskanie, OR; nine grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial to her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 28, 2006 at the Fox Island Yacht Club. Private Inurnment will take place at Haven of Rest in Gig Harbor, WA.
