Message: I will miss you terribly. Our frequent conversations just to see if we were both behaving and being as much of a pain in the ass to whomever was on our list for the day. We lost you way too soon. Such a great mind and sense of humor has been silenced but not forgotten. Consider it a privilege to have been able to work with you and that I was fortunate enough that our paths crossed in life. Will be thinking of you each time I roll those slots at the casino.

Message: I worked with Joyce at Pacific Medical Center and the University of Washington Medical Center. She made huge contributions to both institutions. I felt supported by her with accurate, timely and well thought out numbers. She coached me when she saw fit and also when I asked. Joyce was not shy about giving me her opinion. I valued her contribution to my life. Joyce had a wonderful way of commenting on actions and decisions that she did not agree with. She'd look me in the eye and say " That's interesting." I knew exactly what she meant. I admire Joyce for her interest in and ability to develop those who worked with her. We grew technically and professionally under her guidence. Several people she hired had limited experience but they rapidly grew in skills and confidence. I am a member of a generation of NW health care finance professionals who worked with and learned from Joyce. She impacted health care in her organizations and continues to contribute through us. I think of her often and use her as an example in the classes that I teach. She does live on. Dennis
