Obituary:

Coeta Fern Gott
October 21, 1932 ─ September 5, 2010

Coeta F. Gott, a long-time resident of Lacey, Washington, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2010.

Mrs. Gott, the daughter of Theo and Tena Roth, was born in Canadian, Texas in 1932. She is survived; by her husband John Walker Gott; by her two daughters Deborah Kay Blackmer and Kimberly Ann Doolittle; by her sister Carmen Tucker, and by her brother Bill Roth.

Coeta was educated in Stigler public schools in Oklahoma where she participated as a clarinet-playing majorette for the high school marching band. After high school, she worked as an administrative assistant in the Albuquerque, NM school district where she met John Gott. They were married in 1967 and moved to Pullman, Washington where John received his doctoral degree from Washington State University in education in 1970. After a short stay in Denver, Colorado, the couple moved to Lacey, Washington in 1971 where John became the superintendent of schools for the North Thurston School District.

Coeta worked for 10 years as a secretary in the Educational Service District 113. Coeta was noted for her excellent cooking, her tenacious card-playing skills, her organization skills, and for her sewing, gardening, large-fish catching, and growing some of the largest Dahlias in the entire northwest. She was an active member of P.E.O. Chapter EG, the Olympia glass club, the Newcomers club, and the Orthopedics guild. Her generosity, enthusiasm, and commitment to her many close friends will be remembered as endearing traits of this special woman.

Gifts in celebration of her life should be directed to the North Thurston Education Foundation P.O. Box 3312 Lacey, WA 98509 or to P.E.O. Chapter EG P.O. Box 3278 Lacey, WA 98509
