Obituary:

Chris Synodis, 58, passed away peacefully at home on November 22, 2005, after six years of living with multiple myeloma.

He is best remembered as a gentle and gifted acupuncturist who practiced in Olympia since 1989, and taught in the Japanese Acupuncture Program in Seattle. During his illness he mentored acupuncturists and he remained an active member of the healing community.

Chris was a lifelong student, pursuing buddhism, alternative education, and a variety of healing arts. He was an avid baseball fan, and a member of the Occidental College Baseball Hall of Fame.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Sullivan, his children Michael and Ana Synodis of Olympia and Phoenix, sisters Mary Lou Allen and Nikki Synodis, brother Paul Synodis, and mother Mary Synodis. He is also lovingly remembered by a large community of friends with whom he shared his kindness, talents, and irreverent humor.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 2005 at Lien Hoa Temple, 1211 Wilson Street NE, Olympia.

Second memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 2006 at Nalandabodhi West, 3902 Woodland Park Ave. N., Seattle.

Message: I only knew Chris a short while. I remember his rye sense of humor, easy laugh and compassionate heart. He gave me a recommendation to attend NIAOM in Seattle and because of this kindness to a stranger, I have been practicing for going on 8 years now. I wish his family the best of everything life may offer.

Message: Chris was an amazing healer and such an inspiration to me that I have decided to attempt to follow in his footsteps and begin a degree program in Oriental medicine and acupuncture. I remember well the acupuncture treatments I received from Chris and how very gentle, patient, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable he was. He will be missed, but never forgotten. Light and love, Mary
